Baby Weight

Here's the thing.  With very few breaks, I have been pregnant or nursing since August 2005.  Wow.

Noah was born in 2006, Chloe in 2008 and Rachel in 2010.

What I'm tryin' to tell you is, I've got a few pounds to lose.  (By the way, Rachel is asleep in my arms as I type this and she just sleep laughed and it was the sweetest little thing.)

I get big, really big when I'm pregnant.  Like, a fat roll on the back of my neck big.  Like, my fingers look like hot dogs big.  Like, people constantly ask me if I'm having twins big. Here, I'll prove it:

I was just 33 weeks along in this picture.  That's Myra from My Blessed Life AND also from her beautiful new blog The Casabella Project. This was the last night of The Relevant Conference and we were taking pictures like it was the last day of school.
With each pregnancy I gained 45 pounds.  And I didn't care because I was making a baby and I was so excited to be a Mama.

So far, I have lost 22 pounds without trying.  I am already down to a svelte 188 lbs, and my baby is just 6 weeks old.  Yes, people you can do the math and see that I was 210 lbs when I gave birth.  And it wasn't much weight from said baby:

This fall I am turning 40 and we are thinking about taking our very first cruise.  I would love to be in ship shape {hardy, har, har} for both of those events!

So, I tell you what I'm gonna do.  I'm gonna lose 40 lbs by the time I turn 40.

And I hate to exercise and I love to eat.  Let's do this thing!

  1. To quote the Waterboy, "You can do it!"

  2. i like the new look here! i support your weight loss efforts but i also think you look fabulous pregnant or not! i'll be cheering you on!

  3. You can do it, don't sweat about it, you will have a great time no matter how you look, and your husband loves you no matter what, just get healthy. Your baby's are beautiful.

  4. I 100% relate to this post! (And I totally agree... you are a fabulous looking pregnant woman!) You are amazing and beautiful no matter what, and I know you can do it!

  5. You go sissy!!! I'll be right there with you every step of the way! I'm down 15 lbs, but still have about 80 lbs to go.....starting with a personal trainer next week.

  6. Girl, I'm with you! I want to lose 60 by the time Relevant gets here...we can do it! I'll be praying for you...will you pray for me?

  7. I'm right there with you! I was BIG at Relevant too...and my baby was already four weeks old, LOL!!

I always gain quite a bit in my pregnancies too! :)

  8. You can so do this. And were you writing about me or about you?? The whole pregnant or nursing with little or no break since 2005 part? And the gaining bunches and loving to eat? I think that was me. Anyway, Chris and I are doing weight watchers and I am finding that I like it. I am at a weight I haven't been at since before Garrett...but I still have about 20 to be where I want to be. And very soon I need to really start exercising. You know, in my spare time with 3 kids and all. You can totally do this!

  9. Great for you! I just found your blog. I am on a mission to lose weight as well which you can read about at or feel free to hop on over to my regular blog as well. I just added you to my blog roll so that I could keep up with your journey. Sweet family and gorgeous children!

  10. You can do it!! I went and joined weight watchers tonight myself, so I'm on an inspired roll right now :) Let's just hope it lasts...

  11. Hi Tracy. I want to lose about 25. I get really big when pregnant too, due to gestational diabetes. I also have three under four till May. And heres to us seeing skinnier selves at Relevant! I am going to, that's why I hoped over here...

  12. Dear Tracy,
I stumbled on your blog through The Lettered Cottage - Pick your presto. I then saw this 40 by 40 button. That has been my motto, too. I'll be forty Dec 1, 2011, although I tell people I'm 43 already. Just for fun! I have six kiddos and had my recent addition in 2010. It is harder now that I'm older to loose the weight. I am almost exactly your starting weight and birth weight. And I think you look fantastic pregnant. So Just want to say, I'm with you and will be checking back. Great Idea, great Mommas think alike!
    Love Brooke
